Please Join Us
We welcome new members and visitors.
We are men and women who meet regularly in North Sydney for fellowship, networking and breakfast! It's a great way to make new friends. We come from many walks of life and backgrounds with a common goal - service to the community (local and worldwide) through fellowship.
Our meetings are both informative and informal, with interesting and varied speakers.
They finish punctually to allow us all to continue our busy days.
We raise funds through an annual World Festival of Magic event, BBQs and other activities to support a diverse range of causes aligned with Rotary’s objectives. In recent years, our efforts have assisted the following undertakings, among many others:
Our Club presented to the Rotary Organisation about what we accomplished in 2020 - The Presentation
The Royal Far West charitable organisation was founded in 1924. It has been a constant source of support for rural and remote children across Australia. Programs based in Manly include video links for specialist care; assessments and early interventions for the disabled; and camps for socially isolated children.
Once again this year, we visited Stuart Town near Molong in Rural NSW, continuing our support for the end of term ‘Books in Homes’ presentation. It has been a great project, with mothers telling us that this program has demonstrably improved NAPLAN reading scores!
Capitalising on benefits arising from our recently completed ‘Living Fences’ project, we continue to provide assistance through the Nusa Tenggara Association for an annual children’s festival of traditional music and dance and associated teacher training.

District Conference
Equal first out of the 58 clubs at the 2019 conference in Newcastle in the best dressed competition as the Village People at Saturday’s evening dinner / dance.
Our Club was originally chartered on 2 October 1986 as the Rotary Club of Wollstonecraft, an offshoot of the Rotary Club of North Sydney. The name of the club was changed to the Rotary Club of North Sydney Sunrise on 28 November 2000. Our meeting venue settled in Lavender Bay at Piato Restaurant in Blues Point Road, after periods at the 729 Club in St Leonards and the Sydney Flying Squadron at Milsons Point. The 25 members were all men and it was not until 1989 that women were admitted as members. Weekly meetings were initially held at the Crows Nest Business Men’s Club in Hayberry Street.
Rotary Club of Wollstonecraft Banner
A project starting in 1988 to raise funds was the assembly and sale of Sydney Harbour Tunnel Rocks to commemorate the opening of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel which took place in 1992. The instigator of this project, PP Barry Clark presented a fine specimen to the future Prime Minister, The Hon John Howard.
