Christmas Time

Christmas Event

Our annual Christmas Dinner was a real treat at the Royal Yacht Squadron, where we were honoured to have our special guests, Ian Thorpe, Hamish McDonald and Wendy Whiteley.

We had the pleasure of hearing about Ian’s swimming successes, his journey and the challenges he overcame through an interview with Hamish.

The funds we raised were dedicated to ensuring the ongoing maintenance of Wendy’s Secret Garden in Lavender Bay. Click on Wendy's Secret Garden

Rotary 100 years

Outdoor Gym Equipment

A centenary of Rotary in Australia commemorated with the opening of an Outdoor Exercise Station in Anderson Park, Neutral Bay.  After seeing a Rotary sponsored outdoor exercise station in a park while interstate on Christmas holidays, Club Member Iain Clark proposed to the Rotary Club of North Sydney Sunrise (RCNSS) in early 2021 that the Club could do something similar to commemorate the centenary of Rotary in Australia.   North Sydney Council (NSC) suggested a suitable location in Anderson Park, Neutral Bay, which had already passed community consultation and been included the approved master plan for the area.   In November 2021, RCNSS received a NSW State Government Community Building Partnership grant for $47,000, to which the Club added $5,000 from its own funds. The small balance of the total project cost was provided by NSC as part of their funding for the redevelopment of Anderson Park.   Alicja Batorowicz, North Sydney Council Landscape Architect / Project Co-ordinator managed the contract procurement and subsequent station design and installation by Space Australia.   The exercise station was opened by Ms Felicity Wilson MP on 7 March 2023.

Clean Up Australia

A small group of club members participated in Cleanup Australia Day.  Once again we cleaned an area in Waverton on Balls Head Road adjacent to the HMAS Waterhen naval base.   We are pleased to advise that we found less litter than last year and hope this is an ongoing trend with future visits to this site!
