Our Club Forum towards the end of the Rotary year when we resolve the distribution of our charity funds is always one of our most rewarding meetings. It reminds us of old friends, causes we have supported as we can for many years and introduces a few new groups we hope to help in future. But this year, I am delighted and proud to report that the big winner was Rotary, and the Rotary Foundation in particular!

Briefly, we agreed to make the following payments: Australian Rotary Health Research - $1,500; Books in Homes - $360; Crows Nest Centre - $1,000; Delvena Women’s Refuge - $1,000;  Dimentia Australia - $1,000; End Polio via the Rotary Foundation – $2,000; MUNA - $560; Rotary Foundation - $2,500; Rotary’s End Trachoma by 2020 Program – $1,000; RYPEN - $580; Shine for Kids - $1,000. Our decisions were informed by goals set early in the year to spread our donations in a measured, considered way amongst Rotary projects, our local community, Australia’s near neighbours overseas and especially, young people.

We also agreed this week to continue our support of the Nusa Tenggara Association’s community building projects on the Flores Islands in Eastern Indonesia, in particular sponsoring a school music festival towards the end of the year. More details will follow later.

I do hope you have put aside the evening of Tuesday, 10th July for our Change-Over Night at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron in Kirribilli. See booking details in the Bulletin.
