On Sunday, 26 May the annual Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal was held. Lindy and myself joined many other volunteers from our local community to assist in this very worthy fundraiser.  It was great to see the students from nearby schools give up their Sunday morning to door knock homes in our area. Thanks to our neighbouring club , Rotary Club of North Sydney for co-ordinating volunteers and logistics for this event.

Last Tuesday we welcomed Pete and Sharon Crean from BeyondWater , a not-for-profit organisation they founded in 2007. Their focus is on East Africa where they fight poverty through the provision of clean water and sanitation. They are members of the Rotary Club of Lavington-Nairobi , in Kenya.

On Tuesday 4 June, our speaker Doug Cato will be returning to our club to inform us of the results of a project and experiments he presented to us a few years ago on the subject  - The Effects of Seismic Surveying on Humpback Whales.
